I was able to Chromecast from the Plex web app on my computer onto the SHIELD. Within the house, I could easily access with the Plex App on my Android tablet. Without internet, it was not possible for me to access my local server with the Shield Plex App. Something on Rogers end was also damaged, so took a few days to get internet service back. When we had that massive windstorm last week-end in Ontario, I lost power for close to a day. I don't actually use any streaming services on mine, and pretty exclusively use the Plex app.Īnyone here familiar with SHIELD funtionality without internet service? I also haven't updated the last few times. Fully updated to Android 9, and all google apps updated, and no issues for several months. After clearing the cache for the home app, I only have the default, non-video ads which is acceptable to me. I blocked "" to the SHIELD using very simple web blocking on my router. I find it impossible to remember which service offers what show. So I can't complain about ad row since I use it more than I hate to admit it.
I kinda need a consolidated tell me whats new row and where its located. I don't want to have to open each app to figure out whats new. i would not know what was new? and who or what was offering what? That's kinda handy. If it weren't for those recommendations and then clicking it.
Every one is stuck with video recommendations aka subscription streaming ads. I don't think there is a way around it in androidtv/googletv/fireos. On the firestick/tivo4k only the sub recommendations etc with adblock running no car ads etc. Curious if pihole/adguard can still filter them out, if they can I will upgrade. I still have yet to deploy the patch for android 8 because of the ads people were complaining about. Is anyone running pihole/adguard on their network? If so, do you still see ads on the shield after applying the update to Android 9 or earlier patch that started displaying ads?
